Melissa Sugar Attorney has been featured in SB Magazine's Annual Top Attorney's Edition


Melissa Sugar attorney has several years of legal experience and she has represented her clients in many high profile cases. Melissa graduated from Ole Miss in 1988 and she took a year off to backpack through Europe. She began law school in 1989 with a full academic scholarship and graduated Cum Laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1992 with honors in the top 5% of her graduating class. Melissa graduated at number six out of 143 students in her class. She was accepted into the clinic program/externship called The Sixty Plus, Inc. while she was attending law school. Each term of the law clinic accepts 6-10 qualified students to work with faculty experienced in criminal and civil law to review and prepare cases for court. Along with being the only student selected to participate in an extension of the Sixty Plus Clinic, she was also asked to remain a third term to research and prepare Medicare Part Three cases for clients and to draft proposed amendments of the Medicare Part C Plan for presentation to the Michigan State Legislation.

She was an assistant district attorney for Desoto Parish (Mansfield is the Parish seat) and for Sabine Parish from 1996-2002. She left the position and accepted a new job in Bossier & Webster Parishes where she was the chief assistant D.A. for Bossier Parish. While on this post, she prosecuted hundreds of felonies including Capital murder. She has been featured several times in SB Magazine's annual Top Attorney's Edition. Presently, Melissa Sugar attorney spends her time at home with her children. She is also working on her debut novel, a legal thriller named Justice For Sale.
